Miller-Maze hire Wiley Pearson

The following is a press release from the Miller-Maze campaign.
The gubernatorial slate of Jonathan Miller and Irv Maze announced today that retired Lt. Colonel Wiley Pearson will join the campaign as manager. As Director of the Ohio Democratic Party's Coordinated Campaign in 2006, Pearson played a major role in winning races for both U.S. Senate and Governor in a neighboring state.

Pearson, 58 years old, retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1992, after serving in the military for 22 years, and since then has been actively involved in all facets of politics and public policy.

In 2004, Pearson also worked in Ohio and helped coordinate the AFL-CIO campaign efforts in the presidential race. Prior to that he was on staff at the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) for eight years, where he developed policy initiatives and organized grassroots action, legislative and political, among other things.

Pearson has worked on Capitol Hill as well, where he served as Legislative Assistant for Defense and Foreign Policy for U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (MD). He holds a degree in Political Science from DePauw University and a Masters in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.

"We are very pleased to have found Wiley," said Jonathan Miller. "He has the political and professional experience to help us deliver our message of change throughout the Commonwealth. Irv and I couldn't be more thrilled."

"I am excited to join the Miller-Maze campaign and to work with two leaders of such considerable vision and integrity," Pearson said. "I am particularly grateful to Treasurer Miller for his work in support of military families; I thank him on behalf of all veterans."
I think that this is pretty awesome news for the campaign. I do thank Lt. Col. (Ret.) Pearson for serving our country for 22 years.
