Do You Believe in Miracles?!?

The University of Kentucky Wildcats made the largest comeback in Wildcat history! Central City's Patrick Sparks led the Wildcats with 25 points and made the game winning free throws after being fouled with 0.6 seconds remaining in the game. Sparks was not recruited by either team and transferred to the University of Kentucky to play college basketball. The Louisville Cardinals led 32-16 against my Wildcats. In the last 30 seconds of the game, The Wildcats were down 58-57 when Patrick Sparks was fouled while shooting a three. His free throws at the end of the game won it for the Wildcats 60-58 in Freedom Hall. The 20,088 fans in attendence was a record crowd for Freedom Hall.

Illinois State Senator Obama signs a multi-million dollar book deal.
Sen.-elect Barack Obama will get a $1.9 million advance for three books that he plans to write, his office said Friday.

The fat book contract demonstrates Obama's star power, even before he is sworn in.

He plans to write an illustrated children's book with his wife Michelle and two daughters, 6-year-old Malia and 3-year- old Sasha. The advance for that book, to be published by Knopf Books for Young Readers, will be $200,000. He will donate the proceeds to charity.

A second book will focus on politics and "how his values influence his political beliefs," said Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs. The subject of the third book is still "under discussion," said Gibbs.

Obama will get an $850,000 advance for each of the two adult books in a deal with Crown Publishers.

Obama is already the author of one book, "Dreams from My Father," which he wrote in 1995 book and was re-released last summer. It hit No. 3 on The New York Times' bestseller list for paperback nonfiction last week.
Be careful, Senator, as Newt got in big trouble.

Three Shebly County elected officials have joined the GOP over differences with the national party on abortion, gun rights, and taxes. This should send a wake up message to the party to moderate our image. LINK

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) has been tapped by Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) to serve as assistant floor leader. This was the post that Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) held prior to being chosen to serve as assistant Democratic leader.
Murray has been a member of the Democratic leadership team for six years, first as vice chair and then as chair of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. In the last session under outgoing Minority Leader Tom Daschle, she was a member of the Democrats' executive leadership council.

[...]

Other members of Democratic leadership include Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, conference secretary; New York Sen. Charles Schumer, campaign committee chairman; North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan, policy committee chairman, and New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, steering and outreach committee chair.

"The Democratic Party is a big tent of ideas, and the leadership team we are announcing today reflects that," Reid said. "This team encompasses the incredible talent and wide variety of views within the caucus and I am grateful that each of these senators has agreed to serve."
Senators Bill Frist (R-TN) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have risen to the defense of Defense Secretary Donald Rumseld in saying is the right man for the job. Maybe Mitch is hoping for a cabinet post? Or is he just waiting for Gov. Ernie Fletcher to run in 2008 for the oval office?

This was sent to me last night. Please read and do what action you can take!

If you seen today's KY Post then you know that Congressmen Lucas is working on bringing the 301st Chemical Company from Maysville and the 940th Military Police Company from Walton and Lexington home for the holidays. These 2 divisions were called up in November for an 18 month tour of duty. At the last minute they have been given a 72 hour pass that starts at 12:01am December 24th. Many of them have no way to get home with such late notice. Congressmen Lucas and Executive Transportation are working to get our men and women home for the holidays before they leave for Iraq. Ken has been able to raise $4300 but he needs 4 times that amount for the charter buses to bring them home for leave and then return them to their base. A large majority of these soldiers are from NKY. Let's pull together and help Ken bring them HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

To donate money please contact Ken Lucas at 859-240-1179 or Helen Carroll (Toyota)at 859-746-6623 or there has been an account set up at the Bank of Kentucky.

I just started the long upgrade of videos to DVDs yesterday with the purchase of the Star Wars trilogy on DVD. DVDs are great in the fact that they have so much bonus material. I now own the original videos, the 1997 Special Edition and the DVDs. There was a release in between with interviews with George Lucas about the prequels but I did not purchase those. I hope that George Lucas ends up making the 3rd trilogy. With regards to screenplays, there are many books out there that have expanded the Star Wars universe.
