The Cardinals vs. Cubs series is going down in Busch Stadium this week. Matt Morris takes on the Cubs Glendon Rusch tonight. Tony LaRussa has managed 4,099 games as of tonight and is closing in on 4,100 games managed. It's the top of the 5th right now, and the Cards are down 4-0 with Morris no longer in the game.
The Red Sox led the majors in scoring for two seasons in a row. Can they do it a third time? The last AL team to do it was the Red Sox from 1948-1950. Today in 1960, Ted Wlliams hit his 518th home run -- his final one at Yankee Stadium.
A recent press release from New Hampshire State Rep. Peter Sullivan had the following to say as he joins one of millions calling on FEMA Director Michael Brown to be fired. Some of it can be read at his blog.
"The tragedy in Louisiana and Mississippi has laid bare severe shortcomings in our ability to respond to catastrophe" said Sullivan. "Anyone who cares about America's ability to respond to a disaster, be it natural or man-made, should support a thorough investigation into the failed response by FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security to Hurricane Katrina".The legendary rock trio known as Cream will hit the states for a must see concert as it is doubtful that they will go on a reunion tour. This was emailed to their mailing list:
Sullivan also called for the immediate firing of FEMA director Michael Brown and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.
"Director Brown and Secretary Chertoff have given incompetence a bad name. Their planning was nonexistent. Their response to the crisis was lethargic. Their attempts to shirk responsibility is revolting. At a time when our country needs forthright leaders,. this administration gives us two men more concerned with partisan spin than with human suffering. Brown and Chertoff failed America, and they must be fired immediately".
In what will be one of the must see shows of this decade and their only appearance in the U.S., legendary rock group, Cream - Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton, - will play Madison Square Garden October 24th, 25th, 26th, 2005.I'd go but I don't have the finances to get there right now.
