On to other baseball news, Boston has a chance to clinch the wild card today. They play the Yankees at 2:05 PM. The Sox will set a new attendence record for the 6th straight season. The Red Sox have sold out 81 regular season games this season. At the regular season's end, Boston will have sold out 226 straight games. It is the 2nd-longest streak in MLB history. Only the Indians have sold out more consecutive games (1995-2001) with 455. Curt Schilling takes the mound against Jared Wright.
Senator Russ Feingold got mixed reactions. This bit is a bit interesting.
Others, meanwhile, voiced sharp reservations about the Roberts vote.Hmmm, wait a minute there, that doesn't play well with those further of me. But right now, we should start setting a time table to get out of Iraq, find OBL, and then start helping the Americans living on the the gulf coast.
Mary Heslin of Deerfield called Feingold "impressive," but said "if Roberts turns out to be the one who destroys our civil rights, then I'll be annoyed."
Another Democrat at the dinner, Leah Caswell, thought that Feingold lacked the sweeping, "idealistic" Democratic vision she was looking for.
"I think he was well-received here," she said. "I wasn't happy with him personally."
Caswell liked Feingold's opposition to the war but was bothered when Feingold coupled his criticism of Iraq policy with a vow to be tough on terrorism.
"If there are people out there out to kill us, we should stop them first," Feingold told the crowd.
Caswell thought he sounded "hawkish."
Here's a review of the Cream concert earlier this year. They will be in Madison Square Garden this year for a series of concerts if that hasn't already come and gone. Tickets will be very high.
Lewis Black enjoys his artistic freedom. His stock is still rising at that.
Matthew Tully's column on Senator Bayh in the Indy Star the other day got some interesting responses.
Wednesday's column on Sen. Evan Bayh, and his decision to act more like a Democrat, brought some good responses.As of now, Senator Kent Conrad will not have any competition as Governor John Hoeven will not seak the seat.
Former U.S. Rep. David McIntosh, who lost a 2000 bid for governor, e-mailed to say Republicans like him "are just a little grumpy because Evan (keeps) stealing away our voters with those great ads about Hoosier values."
Indiana Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Brinegar, meanwhile, wrote that business folks "like Governor/Senator Bayh more when he acts and votes like a Republican."
But a reader named Dave O'Brien had the best response.
"Can you tell me the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?" he asked.
Well, can you? Anyone?
Democrats want more states early in the nomination process. Will Kentucky be one of them?
