I was just looking over Jerry Tipton's UK Basketball Notebook. It is nice knowing that the Cats may be getting some talented players in the next few seasons.

This may come as a surprise to many fans but there is a 9th grader that is talented as LeBron James, maybe even more talented. Here's the catch: he's in the ninth grade. So that gives us four years to recruit him.

Normally, the possibility of a high school player walking on at Kentucky rates little notice. But Trey Frazer might be the exception.

Frazer, a three-point shooting guard, is expected to walk on UK's team next season. He is the son of Roe Frazer, a well-to-do businessman from Jackson, Miss., retired attorney, a UK fan and season-ticket holder.

More to the point, the elder Frazer has an employee named Renardo Sidney Sr. That name might ring a bell. His son, Renardo Sidney Jr., was the ninth-grader who made an unofficial visit to UK last weekend. The younger Sidney is considered a full-blown phenomenon at 6-9 and 230.

Recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons gushed about the younger Sidney.

"Honestly, without going too far overboard, he reminds me a lot of LeBron James as a player," Gibbons said. "Whether he'll mature and develop the same, I don't know."
But the younger Sidney is bigger than James as a ninth-grader.

"He played in my Memorial Day Tournament of Champions," Gibbons said. "He was, by far, the most advanced ninth-grader I've ever seen."

By the way, the elder Sidney said he and his son had a good time in Lexington.
"We enjoyed ourselves," he said before adding, "We'd never before been at a game with 24,000."

Maybe this Sidney will take over the center or forward position for the Cats if they do a good job at recruiting him.

In New Orleans news, they are now seeking aid from foreign nations. Is this depressing or what?
