I know this is probably too much but I've gotten more emails that were blogworthy but I didn't want to wait til after class.

Senator Evan Bayh will be giving a major speech today and I hope that the good folks at All America put up an audio file or a video file sometime since I'd love to listen or watch it by any means necessary.

Today, Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), in a speech to The Center for Strategic and International Studies in DC, plans to take up WH DCoS Karl Rove's challenge for Democrats to come up with a strong national security message.

Make no mistake: Bayh's speech will be not a policy address with political undertones; his aides are billing it as a direct acknowledgement of the need to create and disseminate a big-D-Democratic national security political message.

This comes just one day after Senator Tom Daschle delivered a speech at Iowa State University saying "America's greatness may be inherited. But it is not guaranteed. It is bolstered and defended by each successive generation."

I've been saying for a few years now that Democrats need to show that they are not weak on national security and defense and that's yet another reason why I endorsed Senator Evan Bayh in November 2004.

Egypt has called on Hamas to renounce their violence and accept Israel.

Egypt’s intelligence chief, Omar Suleiman, said that if Hamas does not make these pronouncements, the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, is not obligated to ask Hamas to form a government. Suleiman made the comments Wednesday, the same day he met Israel’s foreign minister, Tzipi Livni, in Cairo.

Hamas has rejected calls for a relationship with the United States saying that the demands were unjust. Unjust?!? Uh, I'd rather my family over there be safe and not have to live in fear. The President's demands were for Hamas to reject terrorism, disarm, and accept Israel in order for the peace plans to move on. Obviously, they don't want peace so we shouldn't give any aid to them.

Obviously, there is some chaos in light of their election last week. Look at Paul Wolfowitz's comments. Wolfowitz prefers continued aid! I'm sorry but Hamas is a TERRORIST organization. They SHOULD NOT recieve any aid until their reject terrorism. Shame on Paul Wolfowitz!

"I hope they will ask us to stay," Wolfowitz told London’s Financial Times, referring to the "Quartet," the grouping of the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia that guides the Middle East peace process.

The Quartet warned Hamas in the wake of its victory in Palestinian legislative elections that it would cut aid unless the terrorist group recognizes Israel and renounces violence.

"It will help the whole process if the life of the average Palestinian improves," Wolfowitz said in another interview with Reuters: "We ought to be the last people to disengage." Wolfowitz, who is Jewish, was formerly the deputy U.S. secretary of defense.
