Frank Hargrove is a bigot

In an interesting piece of news from WTOP, a Republican member of the House of Delegates in Virginia, Frank Hargrove, said that African-Americans "should get over" slavery. It didn't end there. See the comments below:

In the same interview about whether the state should apologize to the descendants of slaves, Hargrove wondered aloud whether Jews should "apologize for killing Christ."

Alexandria Delegate David Englin, whose Jewish ancestors immigrated from Nazi-occupied Poland, criticized Hargrove's comments in the House of Delegates.

Hargrove then told Englin that his skin is a "little too thin." Other lawmakers gasped and groaned in disbelief.

Englin, who joined two black delegates in rebukes of Hargrove’s comments in The Daily Progress opposing a resolution to have Virginia apologize for slavery, said, “I understand that [he] means no harm...but I just want my friends and my colleagues of this body to think twice before they say such things.”

“It’s an inflammatory statement that causes a lot of pain to a lot of people,” Englin said. He then held up a picture of his 7-year-old son, Caleb, and said that Hargrove “means no harm [but false statements such as that] mean that my 7-year-old son is that much more likely to be verbally attacked, to be physically attacked.”

Perhaps somebody should tell Mr. Hargrove that the Jews were not responsible for that incident. It was the Romans as Pontius Pilate was not a member of the Judaic religion.

I don't intend to start any religious debates here but setting the record straight om this issue.
