Kentucky Treasurer Jonathan Miller is expected to drop out of the Democratic race for Kentucky governor and endorse former Lt. Gov. Steve Beshear this afternoon. Now I need to replace the logo on the blog...
The Beshear campaign has called a press conference for 3 p.m. today at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort in which he and his running mate, state Sen. Dan Mongiardo, will be joined by Miller and his running mate, Jefferson County Attorney Irv Maze.
Miller’s campaign has found it hard to get traction during the race. The 39-year-old Miller has spent more than a $1 million — much of it on television commercials — but hasn’t been able to break into double digits in independent polling.
According to a media advisory, the press conference “is to discuss how Democrats should support a nominee who can beat Ernie Fletcher this fall.”
Robert Keller, a spokesman for Beshear, confirmed that Miller would endorse Beshear at the press conference.
Carol Andrews, a spokeswoman for Miller refused to comment.
Miller-Maze and Beshear-Mongiardo supporters MUST UNITE to defeat Lunsford and Henry.
