Ford says no to Providence

Jeff Goodman at FOX Sports has the news that Travis Ford will turn down the job offer from Providence.

UMass coach Travis Ford is the latest to turn down Providence in its pursuit of a new men's basketball coach, according to sources.

George Mason coach Jim Larranaga, a Providence alum, spurned the Friars last week.

Ford made his decision Thursday afternoon, a day after touring the Providence campus. He is expected to make an announcement at the UMass team banquet tonight.
