Just sent to me:
September 11, 2005 is "Compassion Sunday"
Culminating the "Compassion Sabbath" Weekend:
A National Interfaith Effort To Aid the Victims of Hurricane Katrina
September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as a dark day in American history.
Hopefully, September 11, 2005 will be remembered as a bright new day; a day
during which Americans of all faiths joined to show compassion - through real,
tangible support - to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
At 3:00 PM EDT on Sunday, September 11, Central Baptist Church in Lexington,
Kentucky will host a service to be broadcast via satellite and the Internet to
congregations across the country, and into the homes of concerned Americans.
The broadcast will include speeches by religious leaders from many of the faith
traditions which have made the United States so great - including
representatives of the Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu communities.
During this broadcast, information on charities and organizations which are
helping provide relief to hurricane victims will be provided, and participants
will be urged to support these relief efforts. Information on relief efforts
will also be provided to churches, synagogues, mosques and temples across the
country to be distributed to their congregations during their traditional
Sabbath services that weekend.
Information on how a congregation or any individual can watch the telecast via
satellite and/or the Internet will be available early next week.
