The press release was issued by the Kenton County Democrats:
Randy Blankenship will announce his candidacy for Kentucky House of Representatives at a press conference on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at 5: 30 p.m. in council chambers at the Erlanger City Hall. A two-term councilmember in the City of Erlanger, Blankenship is a partner in the law firm of Robbins, Kelly, Patterson & Tucker of Cincinnati, and is a life-long resident of the city of Erlanger.Go get 'em, Randy.
"As a city councilmember in Northern Kentucky’s fourth largest city, Randy knows full well the lack of support the Cities of Erlanger and Elsmere have received from its legislators in Frankfort. He is already serving his constituents well and will continue to do so in Frankfort," said Kenton County Democratic party chairperson, Kathy Groob.
The 69th House district encompasses southern Kenton County, and the cities of Erlanger, Elsmere and partial Independence. 23 of the district’s precincts are in Kenton County and two are in Campbell County and two in Boone County. "It is time to bring this seat back to Kenton County," added Kathy Groob. Jon David Reinhardt is a resident of Alexandria in Campbell County and has held the seat since 1984. As a signer of the Grover Norquist "No Tax Pledge," Jon David Reinhardt broke that pledge during the 2005 legislative session when he voted for the governor’s tax plan. Cigarette taxes were raised by $.27 per pack along with additional taxes on businesses and additional consumer goods and services.
Expect a major announcement on November 21, 2005.
As to KY-3, if Jack were running, he would have already announced. I've seen the feedback on Mark's post about John Y. Brown, III running. I'm not in the pro-Brown column quite yet but would support him if Jack is not running. See here for more since I am off to class and will follow up on it after SGA's meeting this afternoon.
