For Sullivan, the setting up of campaign and political action committees do not represent some type of exploratory effort that most candidates pursue before officially jumping in.LINK
"There is no point in beating around the bush," Sullivan said about exploratory committees. "I am getting into this thing now and intend to be in it through 2006."
If he wins the nomination, he will likely take on two-term incumbent Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro).
Sullivan, 37, is serving in his third term in the New Hampshire House. He prides himself Democratic Leadership Council centrist and policy wonk who often bucks his own party’s leadership.
On paper, Sullivan, a centrist Democrat, a young lawyer, and a hard core activist who met his wife at the 1992 Democratic National Convention, would be an obvious rising star for the party.
However, many party insiders have been put off by some of his criticism of him and as such as hurt his chances for advancement. Sullivan acknowledges this and said part of his campaign will be to mend fences.
"Have I had disagreements with the party leadership? Hell yes," Sullivan said. "But I am hoping to sit down with people and come to some understanding about the past so we can move to the future."
During the last cycle, Sullivan supported Sen. Joe Lieberman’s (D-Conn.) campaign for president and then helped run Bob Bruce’s failed run for the Democratic congressional nomination.
As soon as I get a hold of a bumper sticker or logo, it will go up here.
