What a day!

What can I say? I wish I had bet the exacta box!

Herb Sargent passed away. He was a writer who bridged two comedic generations together.

The Indy Star recaps Bayh's visit to Ohio. Now, will Kentucky become a battleground state in 2008? I think so. The thing that we had that caused a loss last year was an 11 state campaign. Not good. All precincts in all fifty states.
More than 300 Democrats greeted Bayh with a standing ovation at the Democratic party's annual Truman Kennedy-Holcomb Dinner.

Bayh told the crowd at the Hamiltonian Hotel that a change in national administration is needed.

"The time for red states and blue states, that's over with," Bayh said. "What we need is 50 red, white and blue states, focused on moving this country forward."

Bayh said the administration has failed to address problems and allowed them to worsen.

"It reminds me of the elephant act in the circus: There's always a heck of a mess to clean up," he said.
Now, that, I like!

What about WISH?
It's the kind of place where Evan Bayh can find support from people who believe the Indiana Democrat could carry Ohio in a future election.

“I think he's going to be our next president,” said Mary Hedrick, president of the Greater Westchester Women’s Democratic Club. “Almost the entire club has come in to see him.”

Bayh came to Ohio at the invitation of Dan Gattermeyer, Butler County Democratic chairman. “We always try to get people who are interested in politics at as high a level as we can,” said Gattermeyer.

While the Indiana senator has said only that running for president has crossed his mind, there are few other reasons to come to Ohio.

Senator Bayh made an appearance similar to another in Colorado earlier this year. It’s something he generally does a couple of times a year but this year there will be more.

Bayh delivers a speech that could easily be adapted for campaign use, calling for more patriotism and making the case that this is the time for a moderate approach.

“That the time for the politics of divide and conquer, the time for using wedge issues to divide one American from another, that kind of politics is cheap politics and it’s the kind of politics that we can no longer afford,” said Bayh in his speech.

It's a speech that Indiana Democrats are familiar with, but some of them attended anyway. “This was a chance for me to come over and show my support for him and dabble a little bit in some pre-presidential politics,” said Mike Jones (D-9th District chairman).[...]

The senator has received numerous invitations to events in Iowa and New Hampshire but so far has no appearances scheduled in either of the states where the real presidential campaigns begin.
It's looking very doubtful that I will be in Ohio for the DLC convention. Had I won the exacta or trifecta, now that would be a different story.

Paula Abdul will be on SNL. No comment.

Blues Brothers making a comeback. Vandalized, that is.

Peter W. Rodino, Jr., has passed away at 95. The Congressman led the Nixon impeachment hearings.

Second City Tour Co. was in Arizona recently.

In my inbox today:
Brian Williams, (the Nightly News anchor on NBC) is a huge fan of American Dreams. He just happened to be in LA on Wednesday, and he was driving into the studio while our banner was flying. He called Mr. Prince, and congratulated him on such a cool idea, and said he was going into NBC meetings that morning, and was going to tell everyone he came in contact with to go look at the banner.
This is interesting. Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

I just bought:
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Woodring Stover (Hardcover) for $15.57
Labyrinth of Evil (Star Wars: Episode III Prequel Novel) by James Luceno (Hardcover) for $17.13

Thanks to super saving, I get free shipping. I'nm ready for May 19, 2005, to come so I can see Star Wars, Episode III - Revenge of the Sith on the big screen. It will be the last time to see a Star Wars movie on screen until 2007 when each movie is released in IMAX 3D one year at a time.

Wade Miller made his first start as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

Democrats lossed their church membership because of party affiliation? What happened to the seperation of religion and state?

Giacomo for Triple Crown? It's the last year that Visa is giving away $5 million to the winner.

Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow. As a friendly reminder, Churchill Down will not be open on Mother's Day for a change.
