Latest from Lunsford....

Here's the latest...
Greg Fischer Attacks Bruce Lunsford For Supporting a Republican in the Past...
Despite the fact that Bruce Lunsford served as Treasurer of the Kentucky Democratic Party nearly thirty years ago and has contributed over $120,000 to Democrats, Greg Fischer and his campaign repeatedly attack Lunsford and call him a Republican. At events throughout the state, the Fischer campaign has circulated flyers attacking Lunsford’s past contributions to Republicans.

…but Fischer Has His Own Record of Supporting Republicans...

Greg Fischer has contributed to Republicans too. Campaign finance records reveal that Greg Fischer has made contributions to conservative Republicans like Rebecca Jackson for Judge Executive and Anne Northup for Congress. Additionally, Fischer did not contribute to John Yarmuth or Jack Conway in either one of their bids to unseat Northup. [Kentucky Registry of Election Finance; Federal Election Commission]

Fischer claims he comes from a strong Democratic family, yet immediate family members – who are actively involved in his campaign – have supported GOP candidates as well. Greg Fischer’s biggest campaign backers, his own family, have a similar record of funding conservative Republicans. George Fischer, Greg’s father, contributed to George W. Bush and Bob Dole, among others. Fischer’s sister, Lynn Fischer has even contributed to Mitch McConnell in the past while she’s bashing Lunsford for doing the same thing. Why hasn’t Greg Fischer publicly admonished his family members for making those contributions? [Kentucky Registry of Election Finances and Federal Election Commission records as of April 2008]

...and Fischer Only Jumped on the Democratic Bandwagon in Time to Help Himself.

Eighty-five percent of Greg Fischer’s contributions to Democrats came after his name started to appear as a potential Senate candidate. Greg Fischer was starting to appear on the Kentucky political scene as a potential candidate for the U.S. Senate last fall. Since then, he suddenly ramped up his contributions to Democrats in an attempt to manufacture some credibility as a Democrat. Even half of his father’s contributions to Democrats didn’t happen until after Greg Fischer became interested in running for Senate. Bruce Lunsford doesn’t hide from mistakes he made in supporting Republicans but Lunsford had contributed well over $100,000 to Democrats long before Fischer became an active Democratic donor.
