Brief Update

Congressman Ted Strickland has pretty much locked up the Democratic nomination for Governor in Ohio as former Congressman and current State Senate Eric Fingerhut is expected to announce that he is dropping out of the race.

Jackie Hoffman is proud to be a kvetch.

Tomorrow's special election is a preview of what may come this fall.

Evan Bayh has pledged to return several times to Iowa this year.
Bayh told The Associated Press that he would return to Iowa several times this year to attend fundraisers and campaign with Democratic candidates.

Bayh, who is exploring a possible run for the Democratic nomination for president in 2008, is wrapping up a three-day visit to Iowa.

During his trip, he raised money for Democratic legislative candidates and county Democratic parties.

One of the main appeals Bayh brings to Democrats is he's been elected governor and Senator in one of the most Republican states in the nation.

In the campaign for the narrowly divided Legislature, both parties will get help from outside the state, including potential presidential candidates who want to keep a high profile in Iowa.
Apparently in an interesting development, tonight is the 1800th show for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart...
