Brief Update

Another brief update...

If you haven't heard, the Vice President's hunting partner - who the Veep shot - has suffered a heart attack as a result of the pellet getting lodged in his heart. I don't even want to think about the potential consequences of what may happen if the guy died. It's not a laughing matter if you ask me. I hope the guy survives and starts recovering.

More on Bode Miller (don't cliick if you don't want to be spoiled!) here. The disadvantage of having the Olympic games in a timezone that is six hours or so ahead: coverage is usually delayed and we know the results before it's aired on tv. I will have the medal updates before midnight as usual.

Just what I have been waiting to read: Israel and the United States of America are planning to isolate that terrorist group that got elected.
Israel and the United States reportedly are considering how to destabilize a Hamas-led Palestinian government. Citing officials in Jerusalem and Washington, The New York Times reported Tuesday that the allies were discussing how to trigger new elections in the Palestinian Authority if Hamas, the winner of last month’s vote, refuses to recognize Israel or foreswear terrorism. Among options cited are cutting off funds to the Palestinian Authority and isolating it diplomatically, potentially forcing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to call new elections that could result in Hamas’ ouster.
A load of applicants have applied for Birthright Israel: 14,000 for 8,000 slots.

A PSA just sent to me from active Democrats:
Please call and let your local State Representative know that you support House Bill 199 (Violent Offenders Bill) sponsored by Representative Dennis Keene. Bill 199 will let communities know if there is a murderer who has been released from prison living in your neighborhood. This information will be online for 10 years by pulling up a web site.

Bill 199 will be brought up in front of the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, February 15, at 10:00 a.m. Please call your State Representative and Judiciary Committee members today or early tomorrow morning and let him/her know you support House Bill 199.

The message center number is 1-800-372-7181. The message goes to whatever State Representative or Judiciary Committee member you request at that time. You may request all of them.
