Baseball HOF elects Bruce Sutter, snubs other players

Only one player inducted? There should have been more! I would have voted in more than just Bruce Sutter. I would have voted for Jim Rice, Goose Gossage, Andre Dawson, Jack Morris, Lee Smith, Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Bert Blyleven.

Jim Rice will only be on for three more years. This was Gossage's 7th chance. To stay on, players must have recieved at least 5% of the votes. This means that were Will Clark (23 votes), Dwight Gooden (17), Willie McGee (12) and Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen (5) will be dropped from the ballots next year. It will be hard for anyone next year to get in since it's one of the biggest years since Nolan Ryan and George Brett first appeared on the ballot as Tony Gwynn, Cal Ripken Jr. and Mark McGwire will appear for the first time.

The HOF will induct Bruce Sutter in Cooperstown on July 30, 2006. The Negro Leagues committee will meet next month. The Veteran's Committee will not meet til next year.
