Late evening update

"Politeness between allies is better than rudeness, and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who with Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) led a congressional delegation to the Munich conference, said that Rice and Bush are right to be reaching out after their scratchy first term. They reaching out to get rid of that hoarse throat that's going around.

College students around the Commonwealth of Kentucky will be making that expensive trip to Frankfort to rally at the capital. Gov. Ernie Fletcher and State Senator Ernie Fletcher are not hip enough to understand the needs of students.
The theme of this year's rally, sponsored by the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents, is "Invest in us. Great minds. Great debt."

The theme is meant to draw attention to the many students who are in a financial pinch due to student loans and debt, said UK Student Government President Rachel Watts.

Of particular interest to the group is a proposed $500 tax break for low-income families with children in college, she said. Watts said the presidents think the tax credit would help out those who are hit hardest by tuition and fee increases.
Gov. Fletcher's staff later translated the slogan into "Invest in who? Who's minds? Debt? Where?!?" That just proves to show that some people have no idea what's going on. The clock at Goebbels' Park in Covington showed the wrong time when I was there in August. The conveyor belt at Norse Commons is BROKEN, and has been since NOVEMBER! Invest in that!
