This guy sees the picture. I didn't support the war but I supported Saddam Hussein getting out of power and going on trial--along with Senators Joe Lieberman, Joe Biden, John Kerry, and John Edwards.
The President's budget for 2005 is cutting 9,790 border patrol agents and the President using a small clause to drop funding for new homeland security force. How is this securing the homeland?
"We know we must do more to shore up security along our borders," said Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, top Democrat on the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee. "The president's budget does not even attempt to meet this challenge."The President's budget plans appeared to be a picture book. But, seriously, all the funding is going to the oil fields rather than securing our borders.
Maryland Governor Bob Erlich has ousted an aide after the misuse of government computers to spread false stories about Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley. The employee, Joseph Steffen, admitted wrongdoing...as is the case with Republicans. How is Tom Delay still in power?
The mayor, a Democrat considering a bid for governor in 2006, said he believes that the widespread and persistent rumors were part of a "concerted and orchestrated and sustained" effort and called on the Republican governor to apologize to his wife and children.Indiana "reform" Governor Mitch Daniels is holding fundraisers at the governor's residence. Despite what he says, he's secretly raising funds for Martha Stewart and Michael Jackson.
"I don't think any of us run for office expecting that this sort of hurt will be heaped on our kids or our spouses," O'Malley said.
Bill Richardson is fighting with the AP. It's over whether or not he's runnning for President. He claims he never told anyone.
Evan Bayh wants changes made in our flu policy so there will never be a shortage.
Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., said Tuesday he will try again this year to convince Congress to change the country’s policy on flu shots. It's a good cause as I'm beginning to feel like I'm under the weather.
Bayh wants the government to promise to buy any unused flu vaccines that private manufacturers make but can’t sell. That way, he said, there never would be a shortage of flu shots.
There are only two flu vaccine manufacturers, and they base their annual production on the amount of flu shots they sold the previous year, which can lead to shortages.
When that happens, Bayh said, “families run risks with the health and well-being of their children, their grandparents, others like that.”
Bayh’s $700 million, five-year plan also includes tax credits to encourage more companies to manufacture flu shots.
