Senator Evan Bayh on The Situation Room

Senator Bayh appeared on The Situation Room around 4:15ish. Your eyes do not decieve you...Senator Bayh was on Fox News and MSNBC earlier.

Some notes on the interview:
Will he vote to confirm Gates? Yes, "he impressed me as more candid and open minded."
Bayh is not convinced Bush understands what is going on in Iraq.
Talks about the Hadley memo.
The question is "Will the president listen?"
As to Iraq, things are not going as well in Iraq. 13,000 Iraqis is the equivalent to 130,000 Americans dying.
Bayh wants to see Bush announce we are not staying in Iraq forever and get a flexible timeline set--a wake up call is necessary.
Bayh is concerned that the President does not want to be looked at as weak.
Bayh would not support adding more troops to Iraq.
As to 2008, Bayh will not compare himself. He has an appreciation for the challenges we face, a proven track record, and we need someone to unite Democrats, Independents, and Republicans. $10.7 million is on hand.
