Yes, they hung up on me, too. I think they lossed a few callers as well.
I sure hope we don't lose any federal grant money.
Jonathan Miller and Ben Chandler met Brian Cashman, a Lexington native, during the convention at Fenway. Chandler is a Twins fan and becoming a Red Sox Fan. If they invite Rep. Chandler to sing "My Old Kentucky Home," the arena would clear out in record time.
I agree. Some of them are not worth the contracts they sign.
Judge Graham (or Grant) ruled that Dana Seum Stephenson will not be seated because she did not meet the residency requirements. This has been going on for nearly two months, longer than Bush v. Gore in 2000. Virginia Woodward should have filed sooner rather than towards the last minute in my opinion. Jonathan says that: "The Senate Republicans are acting outside of their authority in seating Dana Seum Stephenson."
State Auditor Crit Luallen believes Virginia Woodward should be seated and the Democrats will mount a strong campaign if we resort to a special election. She believes we need to articulate our values and policies. She's hopeful that we will have a state budget. Jonathan asked what she will run for in 2007. He thinks she will run for State Treasurer. Does this mean what I hope it means? Jonathan Miller for Governor in 2007? If so, sign me up right away!
Jim Newberry(is that name right? I had Lugar at first.) is running for mayor of Lexington. He ran in the 1998 Congressional primary election in KY-6 against Jonathan Miller. I wish him the best of luck. He has a top ten list. Here's a few:
10. Always wanted a job where he can ride on a fire truck
9. Great UK Basketball seats
5. Lexington will have one less lawyer on the street.
4. Take on Jerry Abramson in a cage match.
3. Something has got to be done about the traffic.
2. Invited to be the Y in Kentucky at a UK Game.
1. New leadership so that Lexingtonians can be proud of the local government.
Now, on to Simon Rosenberg. To help those in the minority, Simon, losing his voice, believes that the last 4 years were a time to fix the party, but the we need 50 state parties that can fight and win in each direction. We need to work through issues and work on the message. NDN ran ads promoting and embracing what it means to be a Democrat. We need to make the word something great. Democrats have won statewide in 33 races for Governor. We have to do a better job of communicating. He's 41 and Jonathan thought he was 37. He'd be retired if he were in baseball. Mehlman, who is not as good looking, is three years younger. I'd like to thank Simon for the autographed print-out. I hope Jonathan gets to do it more often but only after he becomes the NEXT GOVERNOR AND THEN SENATOR OF KENTUCKY!
Al Cross, who recently left the C-J, came on around 5:30. Jonathan was in the hot seat in 1998 when he was 29. Now, Al is in the hot seat. Al is the interim director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues (thanks to a past email from Al Cross, I fixed the name). They publish a blog at Rural Journalism. I'm adding that soon. Democrats did not take advantage of Fletcher's difficulties. We need to take advantage of the difficulties. Al did radio before. I agree, Al is the dean of political writing in Kentucky. Kentucky has been on a conservative trend since 1956. Southern Democrats have had much luck carrying Kentucky. Evan Bayh can change that! Al Cross believes that Democrats can win the Governor's mansion but this year will tell the difference. He believe Sen. Evan Bayh can win Kentucky. He is a Kentucky-kind of Democrat. Democrats need a Bayh, John Edwards, or Mark Warner at the top of the ticket. Like Al said, there will always be a place for the printed word.
Senator Joseph Lieberman was supposed to be rounding out the guests -- it's getting kind of dark outside but not quite -- and since it is almost 6 PM when I do my last update from the show -- and for Friday, I don't think he will be on.
Sorry, some of these posts are relating to the show guest-hosted by Jonathan Miller.
I do not support Jerry Lundergan for KDP Chairman. Find someone else, PLEASE!
I was not paid by anyone to write any of this.
