Get well soon, Ed McMahon

Ed McMahon hospitalized after fall in home
Former Tonight Show sidekick Ed McMahon is hospitalized after a fall in his Beverly Hills home left him with a mild concussion and a gash in his head requiring stitches, his publicist said Monday.

"Mr. McMahon's prognosis is excellent and he is expected to be released from the hospital in the next few days," spokeswoman Susan DuBow said. The name of the Los Angeles area hospital wasn't disclosed.

McMahon, who turned 82 on Sunday, tripped and fell on Friday afternoon, DuBow said.

"He was rushed to a local hospital where he received several stitches in his forehead," the publicist said, adding that he had suffered a mild concussion.

McMahon was perhaps best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick for decades on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson,"and he was Carson's sidekick on the game show Who Do You Trust? in 1957. Carson, who retired in 1992, died Jan. 23 of emphysema at age 79.

McMahon was also co-host with Dick Clark of the Bloopers shows and he appeared year after year on The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
