Late Night Thread

Here's a late night thread for the usual gang of readers and to post what I meant to post before that storm came through the Ville. I'm alright - thank G-d!

Apparently, Vice President Al Gore did not make the Meet the Press cut for 2008.

A Detroit citizen comments about Second City Detroit's move to Novi.

The following was in my inbox the other day dealing with a new law in New Hampshire.
With the New Year, the Crime Victim Employment Leave Act became law.

Under the new law, victims of crime are guaranteed the right to take time off from their job to meet with police and prosecutors and to attend court proceedings.

"Employment leave for crime victims is an important step towards strengthening our sense of community," said Rep. Peter Sullivan, the prime sponsor of the new law. "The new law shows that we stand with victims in their time of need, and that we recognize the importance of assisting victims in their pursuit of justice. It demonstrates that a tough approach to crime and a sense of compassion towards victims are inseperable."

New Hampshire joins a growing number of states in enacting crime victim leave legislation. The concept was pioneered by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano during her tenure as her state's attorney general.
