Bayh wants reservists to be paid

From WNDU:
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels issued another executive order making up any salary lost for reservists employed with the state when they are called up for active duty.

It's a policy Indiana Senator Evan Bayh wants to see put into law for all reservists once Congress returns to session. Right now, under the Patriot Penalty, reservists called to active duty lose their civilian salary, often taking a pay cut.

With tours of duty extending past the traditional six months for most reservists since 9/11, the penalty is creating a major hardship for many families.

It's a loss of income Senator Bayh is hoping employers will make up. “If you work for a company that is willing to help us make up this wage gap, we give a tax credit of up to 50% of the first $30,000 in wages, so we want to help companies do the right things,” said Senator Bayh.

If an employer doesn't make up the wage or a reservist is self-employed, the legislation says the government would cover up to $50,000 in lost wages.
I like this policy...very much. Does Kentucky have a similar law?

I'm now on the sports staff of the tv station at my school.
