Afternoon update

Until the 2006 midterm elections, there will be no Democrat holding the job of PVA in Louisville-Jefferson County, Kentucky according to the Courier-Journal.
Gov. Ernie Fletcher appointed fellow Republican John Timothy May yesterday from a list of six Republicans and four Democrats who passed a state-administered test Jan. 31.[...]

May, 42, a licensed real estate broker and certified real property appraiser, will serve the remaining 23 months of the PVA's term. The post was left vacant when Democrat Denise Harper Angel, who had served as PVA since 1990, resigned last month to fill the state Senate seat she won in November.

May is the first Republican PVA since the late Lawrence P. Layne held the position for 12 years through 1973.
Comedian and Second City alumnus Robert Klein turned 63 today. John Grisham just creeped into his 50's.

That's all for now. I've got work to do.
