Celebrities in the news

IMDB lists an update on the NBC telethon airing this Saturday.
Pop superstar Madonna has agreed to host a Us TV benefit show to raise money for the American Red Cross's tsunami-relief efforts in south east Asia. The Material Girl - who has been attacked for donating 10,000 bottles of Kabbalah Water to areas hit by the December 26 tidal wave - will take part in American TV network NBC's Tsunami Relief Telethon on January 15. She will be joined by "Dirrty" singer Christina Aguilera, soul star Diana Ross, rockers Maroon 5 and actors including George Clooney, Kevin Spacey and Uma Thurman.
They also list an update on the Clooney invite.
American newsman Bill O'Reilly has accepted George Clooney's offer to join the presenters at this weekend's tsunami relief telethon after a fiery war of words between the pair. O'Reilly upset Clooney last week when he questioned the organization of the televised charity event, prompting the movie star to fire off a nasty letter to the Fox anchorman. And when O'Reilly poked fun at Clooney's letter on his O'Reilly Factor show on Monday, the Ocean's Twelve star fired back with an ultimatum. He wrote, "Former Presidents Bush and Clinton believe this is an important enough event to participate in. We're not playing games here, we're trying to save lives. It's as simple as this; you're either with this joint effort or against it. We need an answer immediately." O'Reilly's aides have confirmed the news man will join the Tsunami Aid: A Concert Of Hope effort on Saturday night. O'Reilly and Clooney are used to battling over televised benefits - the newsman criticized the actor for his involvement in a post-9/11 telethon, claiming the organization was so bad that the needy didn't get the cash they were promised.
Lucy Liu has added herself to the list.
Movie beauty Lucy Liu has donated $200,000 to the victims of last month's Indian Ocean tsunami. The Charlie's Angels star, 36, was "inspired" by Egyptian millionaire Mohamed Al Fayed's generous donation to the appeal, when she opened the January sale at his Harrods department store in London last week. Liu says, "Mohamed has given more than £150,000 and as a UNICEF ambassador, it was the least I could do." Al Fayed is the father of Dodi Fayed - the late boyfriend of Diana, Princess Of Wales, who killed alongside the tragic royal in the August 1997 car crash.
