More Tributes to Johnny

Carson's Long Late Shadow was in the New York Times. Conan paid tribute last night. He met Johnny while working on the cartoon show and gave him misdirections. Their paths crossed a few times.

Almost official. The next chairman is likely to be a screamer. Like we need to see that in reruns? He made a fool of himself on the Late Show with David Letterman right after Iowa. That's not the way to do it.

Senator John Kerry and Mitt Romney might be duking it out in 2008. But will it be in the Senate or Presidential race? These two are barely talking...to each other. Romney is an executive and his dad was a former Michigan Governor and a presidential candidate.

An Arab girl was killed by celebratory gunfire. The IDF was blamed wrongfully. Visit Honest Reporting for the truth.

Senator Bayh on National Guard benefits:
Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana said soldiers who take a pay cut when they go on active duty should also be compensated.

Bayh's amendment to the proposal would offer direct payments of up to $50,000 a year to National Guard members who get paid less in the military than they do in their civilian jobs. It also would provide tax credits to companies who agree to make up the difference in pay.

"Families should not be compensated for their immense hardship only when a loved one is killed in combat," he said.
Andrea Neal on Evan Bayh. So what if Indiana is a red state? There are more registered Democrats in Kentucky yet we have the worst representation in DC!

Letterman had high ratings on Monday. Why am I not surprised?
CBS' Late Show With David Letterman delivered a 6.0 household rating/15 share Monday night. The show featured Letterman's remarks -- and jokes secretly written for him by Carson before his Jan. 23 death -- and guests Peter Lassally, a longtime producer of NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Doc Severinsen, Carson's bandleader.

Letterman's tribute came a week later than The Tonight Show With Jay Leno because Letterman's show wasn't in production last week. Usual late-night leader Tonight Show delivered a 4.9/12 on Monday. Last week, Leno chalked up near-record ratings with his Jan. 24 Carson tribute episode, which pulled in an 11.2/26 share.
TV Guide remembers Johnny Carson. How fitting.

Bush will speak about his budget and plan for social security. He'll be talking about why it is dead on arrival and there is no bipartisan support. Then he'll be speaking as many mispronounced words as possible.

The Richard A. Gephardt Institute for Public Service will be opening next fall. He would have been another great candidate.

Who doesn't belong in this list? You tell me!

A popular bartender, Arthur Klug, in Chicago has passed away at 79. The bar was host to many Second Citizens.
Among their frequent customers were generations of cast members from nearby Second City, including the Belushi brothers, Dan Aykroyd, Chris Farley and pianist Del Close. Folk singers from the Earl of Old Town stopped in between sets, including John Prine, Steve Goodman and Fred Holstein.
