Arizona hires Kentucky Coach

The Arizona Wildcats women's basketball program has hired a new basketball coach: Kentucky Lady Cats Associate Coach Niya Butts.

The University of Arizona has announced that Niya Butts will take over as the new head coach of the Arizona Wildcats.

Butts comes via the other Wildcats program, that of the University of Kentucky, where Butts served as an associate coach in Kentucky. Butts is a former 2-time NCAA champion player at Tennessee. The 30-year-old coached at Michigan State for one year, Tennessee Technological for two seasons and joined the Kentucky staff in 2003.

Butts is replacing former University of Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini, who coached the Wildcats for 17 seasons.
