"Ben Bernanke has made it clear to me that he understands the economic challenges our country is facing today," Bayh, a member of the Senate Banking committee, said in a statement. "I believe he offers the right blend of intellectual ability and practical experience to face these challenges, and I will support his nomination to become our next Federal Reserve Chairman."As a sidenote, Republican Senator Jim Bunning has said he will vote against Bernanke.

According to the Hotline on Call, Senator Bayh will vote for Ben Bernanke. President Bush nominated Bernanke to replace retiring Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan.
