Wisconsin Polling

These figures are of high interest because one would think that the "son of the state" would be the highest on the list in terms of percentage but Senator Feingold is not. The way I am thinking is that it is due because of name recognition at this point.
17. Would you like to see Senator Russ Feingold run for President in 2008?
Yes 51%
No 36%
Undecided 13%
Notice those numbers. He is coming in at just over 50%. This is where it gets odd.
18. Who is your choice for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2008? (Democrats only)
Hillary Clinton 31%
Al Gore 14%
Russ Feingold 13%
John Edwards 7%
Wesley Clark 5%
John Kerry 5%
Mark Warner 4%
Joseph Biden 3%
Tom Vilsak 2%
Evan Bayh 2%
Ed Rendell 1%
Bill Richardson 1%
Barbara Boxer 1%
Undecided 11%
If I read that correctly, Wisconsin citizens favor Senator Hilary Clinton. Let's take a look at the New York polls.
21. Do you believe that Senator Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2008?
Yes 60%
No 28%
Undecided 12%

22. Do you want Senator Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2008?
Yes 34%
No 55%
Undecided 11%
While they believe she will run in 2008, they overwhelmingly prefer that she doesn't run. Now, assuming she does run, how would they vote in the nomination?
28. For the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination whom would you support? (Democrats only, candidates' names read to respondent to select.)
Hillary Clinton 40%
Al Gore 12%
John Kerry 10%
Joseph Biden 7%
John Edwards 6%
Wesley Clark 5%
Ed Rendell 2%
Evan Bayh 1%
Russ Feingold 1%
Tom Vilsak 1%
Mark Warner 1%
Bill Richardson 1%
Barbara Boxer 1%
Undecided 12%
Okay, apparently they would vote for her even though they don't want her running.

I still believe it is all due to name recognition at this point of time.
