Breaking: Tim Kaine elected as Governor of Virginia

Virginia elects Lt. Governor Tim Kaine to serve as their next governor.

The press is now reporting that with about 70% of the precincts reporting that Tim Kaine has won the majority of the vote.
With more than 70 percent of the vote counted, Kaine holds 51 percent of the vote to 47 percent for Kilgore. Independent Russ Potts has about 2 percent.

Residents in the commonwealth voted Tuesday for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, as well as seats in the Virginia House of Delegates.
In other election news, Senator Jon Corzine has moved over to the Governor's Mansion.
In Texas, voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional ban on gay marriage, while Republican Mayor Mike Bloomberg surged ahead in his bid for a second term in heavily Democratic New York. Voters also picked mayors in Detroit, Houston, San Diego and Boston.[...]

In New Jersey, Democratic Sen. Jon Corzine trounced Doug Forrester, pulling in 54 percent of the vote to the Republican's 42.8 percent, with 55 percent of precincts counted. Corzine had 605,915 votes, and Forrester had 480,477.
