Ron Wyden stays put

According to Basie!, Senator Ron Wyden says no to 2008 in an article that appeared in The Hill. It's been said Wyden has a "face made for radio." I have no comment on that one.
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) is the anti-newsmaker when it comes to presidential candidacies.

While he says he’s been approached to run in 2008, Wyden, speaking at a National Press Club breakfast yesterday, likened taking that step to an unnatural high, even an addiction. And Wyden won’t be standing on the street corner waiting for the Man anytime soon.

"I will make some news today," he said. "I will be the only Democratic senator to not run for president because someone needs to be the designated driver." After, all, he said, someone needs to mind the store amid all the "intoxication."

"I’m in detox," he joked.

To which his ever-attentive aide Carol Guthrie chimed in, "As his communications director, I would like to point out that Senator Wyden is not in detox."
So there goes the Draft Wyden campaign if there was one.

But in all seriousness, Wyden claims he is the only Democratic senator to not be running in 2008. Does that mean the other 40-something will be running?
